Classic Vintage Butterfly

For this card I have gone back to one of my most favourite stamp sets ever - Strength and Hope. Both the butterfly and the flourish underneath the butterfly are from this set. This is one of those cards that is really quite quick to make and can be customised simply by changing the colours - I think teal greens and blues would look fantastic!

You can see on the photo below that I have cut back the top panel of the card and rolled the pink swirls along the exposed edge. This just helps add some interest, along with the punched edges. 

Here you can see the butterfly stamp in much more detail - notice how intricate the veining and pattern on the wings are! One of the many things I love about Stampin' Up! is how crisp an impression the stamps leave - it really helps with dense images such as this one to get great definition. I have used the rock and roll technique on the butterfly, followed by spray glitter and mounting it on dimensionals. If you have never tried rock and roll - what are you waiting for?! Birthday Owl

Once again my photography is not up to scratch, but it should still be able to give you the idea of the card. I have used the fabulous Owl builder punch on this card - it is such a great punch and surprisingly versatile.

I have used different thickness's of foam pad to create depth with the balloons, and used linen thread to make the balloon strings.

Details I added to the owl were tiny rhinestones for the sparkle in the eyes, a touch of glitter on the owl's heart badge, and the creation of the wing using a cut up scallop circle shape.

Concertina Butterflies

I need to apologise straight off for the not great photography today! I don't know why, it is probably the lighting, but they just would not come out right! Anyway, they are good enough to give you an idea of what the card is like:

I have used a fair bit of Mirri Card for this project, which embosses beautifully - although is not the easiest to photograph! Coupled with pink and purple it is a very girly card.

I don't make many concertina cards, but here you can see how I have decorated the inside with coordinating butterflies from the same stamp set 'flight of the butterfly'.
